Have you ever bought a jersey with a professional athlete’s name and number on the back? Or played video games such as Madden, MLB The Show, or NBA 2K? These products are possible because of group licensing. And now, OneTeam has brought group licensing to college athletes!
Opting in to the OneTeam GLA (group licensing agreement) through the COMPASS NIL app is the only thing you need to do to have your name and number included on products sold by brands such as Fanatics, BreakingT, Prosphere, and Athlete’s Thread. Once you opt-in to the program, OneTeam will alert you of any new deals and continue to communicate with you through the app about products being launched.
OneTeam will send biannual royalty payments directly to you, either through direct deposit or a check in the mail. Group licensing is a passive income opportunity, which means once you sign the GLA, nothing additional is needed for you to receive your earned royalty payments.

If you are an international student, please make sure you are up to date with visa restrictions and your schools stance on co-branding with international athlete NIL.

All available opportunities are listed under the ‘Deals’ section in the COMPASS NIL app. Athletes can review both their current deals and potential deals at any time through the app.
If there are no deals currently available for you, please utilize the ‘Future Opportunities’ deal within your COMPASS NIL dashboard. By signing the GLA through this deal, you will automatically be added to any future deals for which you are eligible, following a 14-day notification period.
Your compensation will be based on the sale of the merchandise. If it is possible to track sales specific to your NIL, like in the case of jerseys bearing your name and number, you will receive a share of royalties specific to those sales. If it is not possible to identify sales by individual NIL, like in the case of video games that contain multiple athletes in one product, then revenue will be divided equally among the participating athletes included in that licensed merchandise program. Royalty rates vary from deal-to-deal and will be displayed alongside each deal you’re eligible for in the COMPASS NIL app. Payments will be made to you twice annually once you input your preferred payment method into the Compass NIL app. Payments can be received through direct deposit (ACH) or check.
No. The group licensing model has been successful in the professional space, and it is how companies like EA Sports, Fanatics, and hundreds more add athlete NIL to products. Professional athletes participate in and profit from group licensing, and 100% of the players in the NFL, MLB, WNBA, and MLS participate in their respective group licensing programs, all represented by OneTeam. No. Group licensing does not restrict you from any individual marketing or endorsement opportunities. You may do as many additional marketing deals as you wish to pursue.
